Nueces County
Corpus Christi and the towns to its west and northwest. County-seat services, the courthouse and Public Works, are in Corpus Christi (Nueces County Public Works).

San Patricio County
The north-shore towns across the bays from Corpus Christi. The county handles permitting and floodplain matters in unincorporated areas (San Patricio County, floodplain development and permits).

On Corpus Christi Bay near the ship channel. City issues permits and points residents to San Patricio County.

A tri-county coastal city (San Patricio, Aransas, Nueces). The WPI-8 rule applies regardless of the county line.

A new or replacement roof usually needs the WPI-8 certificate to keep wind and hail coverage. The exact requirement depends on your address and carrier, so confirm your situation with the Texas Department of Insurance.

- Why does the county matter for a roof?
- The windstorm certificate rule follows the designated catastrophe area, which is defined by county. Being in Nueces or San Patricio County is what puts a home under the WPI-8 requirement, not the distance to the water. That is why an inland town like Robstown is treated the same as a bayfront home in Ingleside.
